He thanked the “invincible” doctors at London’s St Thomas Hospital in an emotional video message after being released from the hospital after a seven-day battle with the killer bug.

The Prime Minister said: “The NHS saved my life. No doubt. Things could have gone either way. “

Boris said of Jenny and Luis: “The reason my body finally started getting enough oxygen was because for every second of the night they were watching and thinking and caring for and doing the interventions I needed.”

Johnson will spend time recovering at Checkers, the prime minister’s country house, for at least next week.

Jenny’s brother Rob McGee greeted her sister and the NHS staff when she returned to work last night.

He told MailOnline: “She is very humble and is now back at work for another night shift.

“She said she was really happy to see all of the hardworking people on the NHS being recognized for the amazing work they are doing.”

McGee added: “She’s just doing her job, and that’s how she sees it.

“For this she was trained, to help people who need care. [Medics are] special people.”

‘THEY SAVED MY LIFE’

The nurse, from Invercargill, New Zealand and who has been in Britain for eight years, trained in intensive care at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia, where she worked for six years.

Her other brother Michael said his entire Kiwi family is delighted that Boris has pointed to the 35-year-old.

He told NZ outlet 1 News: “We are all very proud of Jen, and that Boris recognizes us is something else.”

Portuguese cousin Luis, firefighter Ivo Pitarma, who lives in Aveiro, said: “Obviously I am very proud.

“Of course, I knew she was a nurse in London, but I had no idea that she had been taking care of Boris Johnson, so this was a real surprise to me.”

The prime minister posted the video message after a meeting with pregnant fiancé Carrie Symonds on Downing Street.

Johnson will spend time recovering from Covid-19 at Checkers, the prime minister’s country house in Buckinghamshire, as the daily death toll in the UK rose by 737 yesterday to 10,612.

‘DRIVEN BY LOVE’

In a moving statement, the Prime Minister added: “We will win because our NHS is the beating heart of this country. It is the best of this country.

“He is invincible. It is driven by love. “

Praising the doctors in the ICU unit, “several of them for some reason named Nick,” who chaired him for three tense days and nights, he said, “he will be grateful for the rest of my life” for his decisions.

Boris NHS Heroes

The two nurses who saved Boris Johnson came to Britain to work and they love to travel.

Luis Pitarma, born in Portugal, lives in West London.

He worked at Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for two years, serving pre and post surgical patients.

The 29-year-old man has worked at St Thomas Hospital since May 2016, according to his LinkedIn page.

Luis graduated in nursing from London South Bank University.

He visited Belgium in February, just a month before closing. Last year he was photographed in Berlin, Slovakia, and Paris.

Jenny McGee’s Facebook bio, born in New Zealand, says: “Living the dream, living in London.”

The images show that he had visited London’s Christmas markets, the Egyptian pyramids, New York’s Times Square and the Glastonbury music festival.

The 35-year-old man once undressed for a fun photo shoot with friends posing with plants in a greenhouse.

Boris added: “The reason my body finally started getting enough oxygen was because for every second of the night they were watching and thinking and caring and doing the interventions I needed.

“This is how I also know that in this country, 24 hours a day, for every second of every hour, there are hundreds of thousands of NHS employees who act with the same care, thought and precision as Jenny and Luis.”

The 55-year-old Tory leader had a comforting reunion with his fiancée and the couple’s car broke down leaving the back of Downing Street at lunchtime with their dog Dilyn sitting on Carrie’s lap.

My Symonds, 32, also tweeted her thanks to the St Thomas staff after revealing that she was “very concerned” and suffered “very dark” moments.

Attendees said Boris agreed to follow his doctors’ orders on how long he should rest and that they will assess when he’s ready to return to No. 10.

Downing Street is planning an absence for several more weeks with one week off for each day spent in intensive care as a general rule.

A source No10 said: “He is just beginning his post-hospital recovery, it is too early to give an indication of the timing.

“They have told him that he needs to rest and recover.”

The government is expected to extend the national shutdown for at least another three weeks as the pandemic has not yet peaked, the sources said.

Sir Jeremy Farrar of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies said the UK death rate could end up exceeding that of Spain or Italy.

Yesterday was also the fourth highest day for the number of daily infections in Britain and there are now 84,279 known cases in the country.

Goodies star Tim Brooke-Taylor, 79, was one of the victims yesterday.

The total also included eight front-line health workers, including three nurses.

The families of the NHS workers who died once again called for more personal protective equipment in hospitals.

Nursing homes, where up to 1,000 residents may have died, also say they are desperate for PPE.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: “We now have record amounts of PPE in the system, but until everyone gets the PPE they need, then we will not rest.”
