Just under 10,000 people have now been confirmed as sick by Covid-19.
14 other people died of coronavirus, it was announced Sunday night, compared to a tragic count of 33 on Saturday night.
And sadly, there were 727 more Covid-19 cases confirmed by the Health Department on Sunday, the highest total for a single day so far.
This consisted of 430 cases from the Department of Health’s own testing laboratories and another 297 who returned from Germany, where additional tests are being conducted to eliminate a delay.
It provides the total number of infected in the Republic of Ireland that we know of up to 9,655.
Health Minister Simon Harris has vowed to catch up on the tests so there will be no delays later this week.
If this can be achieved, the test results should normally be available within 48 hours.
The total number of deaths from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland has now reached 334, while the number of confirmed cases has risen to 9,655.
Northern Ireland also saw more deaths yesterday, with another 11 tragically dying and another 89 confirmed to have contracted the deadly disease.
118 have died in the north and at least 1,806 have the disease.
It means that on the island of Ireland as a whole there have been 454 deaths and 11,461 confirmed cases.
The number of deaths here has dropped significantly from the 33 reported on Saturday night, while stabilization in the number of confirmed cases is also cause for optimism.
Of the 14 deaths recorded yesterday, eight were men and six women.
12 of those who died were people living in the east and two were from the west.
The average age of the deceased was 80 years and 10 of the 14 deceased are reported to have underlying health problems.
