A CYCLIST has died after falling off his bike in Co Cork today.
The 60-year-old man suffered serious injuries while riding his bike on the R614 at Ballybrak in Glenville around 10.20 a.m. M.
He was rushed to Cork University Hospital by ambulance, but was later pronounced dead.
Gardai does not believe that any other vehicle was involved in the accident.
Forensic investigators examined the scene while the local coroner learned of the death.
Appealing for witnesses, gardai said: “Gardaí is investigating a fatal traffic incident involving a bicyclist that occurred in Glenville, Co. Cork, on Sunday October 25, 2020.
“At approximately 10.20 am, a cyclist, in his 60s, was seriously injured after falling off his bicycle while riding the R614 in Ballybrack.
“He was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. It is understood that no other vehicle was involved in this incident.
“The scene was examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local coroner has been notified of the death.
Gardaí investigators are requesting that witnesses contact them at the Fermoy Garda station (025) 82100 or on the confidential Garda line 1800 666 111.
