Elsewhere, security measures will be put in place including no handshake policies, temperature testing, intensive cleaning and contact records to facilitate contact tracking for companies to reopen shortly, under a new protocol for employers. and workers to deal with the virus.
The confidential preliminary version of the “Safe Return to Work Protocol,” dated Thursday, also warns that workers returning from the recent closure may need support for anxiety or stress, due to traumatic events including financial difficulties, the illness or death of a family member or friend, or problems with their personal relationships.
Employers contemplating the reopening are advised to develop a Covid-19 business response plan, to address the potential level of risk (including for individual workers) and to formulate procedures for responding to suspected cases.
The protocol also advises them to prepare contingency measures to address rising worker absenteeism rates and to review existing sick leave policies.
