A woman tragically died after a car-truck accident in Westmeath.
The heartbreaking incident happened in Glascarn, Rathconrath, Mullingar, around 1pm on Monday afternoon.
The 45-year-old woman died after the frontal collision.
She was the only occupant of the car.
His body was taken to the morgue at Midlands Regional Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be performed.
The truck driver, a man in his 40s, was not injured in the fatal incident.
The road remains closed for forensic collision investigators to conduct a technical examination.
A Garda spokeswoman said: “The Gardaí are calling for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
“The Gardaí is also attractive to any road user who may have camera images (including the dash cam) that were traveling in the area at the time so that these images are available to Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda station on 044 938 4000, the confidential Garda line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
