Gardaí in Mullingar are investigating the fatal collision.

A woman died in an accident in Westmeath.

The 45-year-old woman lost her life after a frontal collision with a truck in Glascarn, Rathconrath.

The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m.

His body has since been transferred to the Midlands Regional Hospital Morgue, Mullingar, where an autopsy will be performed at a later date.

The truck driver, a man in his 40s, was unhurt and did not require medical attention.
