40-year-old man dies after serious assault in Dublin

A man in his 40s who was seriously injured in an incident in Seville Place, Dublin 1 in the early morning of Wednesday 2 September has died in hospital.

The man had suffered serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Mater Hospital, where he was pronounced dead today.

His body was transferred to the Dublin City Morgue, where this afternoon Locum State Pathologist Dr. Heidi Okkers performed a post-mortem examination.

The preliminary results of the autopsy have been provided to Gardaí, the details of which cannot be released for operational reasons.

An investigation into the incident and all the circumstances surrounding the man’s death continues.

Gardaí says that no arrests have been made in the case to date, but that they are following a defined line of investigation.

Gardaí researchers are renewing their appeal to anyone who has witnessed this incident to come forward.

They are also attractive to road users who may have camera footage, including the dash cam, of the area at the time to make available to them.
