When Joe Biden moves into the White House, his loyal wife Jill will be by his side.

The dedicated English teacher met the future president of the United States on a blind date when she was in college, and they were married in 1977.

They got along right away, but Jill wasn’t sure she would marry Joe right away.

In fact, she said no when he knelt down and asked her to be his wife. Four times.

Fortunately, Joe, who will be the 46th president of the United States, did not give up and she said yes when he asked for it for the fifth time.

The couple married in 1977, two years after their first date.

She already had a date planned for the night they were to meet, but a very confident Joe told her to cancel it so they could go out.

They went out to dinner and to a movie, and ended up seeing each other three nights in a row.

Jill wasn’t put off by the nine-year age difference and liked how mature he was compared to the guys she’d dated in college.

In an interview with Vogue magazine, she said: “I was a senior, and I had been dating guys in jeans, clogs and T-shirts, he came to the door and he had a sports coat and loafers, and I thought:” God, this is never going to work, not in a million years. He was nine years older than me!

“But we went out to see A Man and a Woman in the theater in Philadelphia and we really got along.”

Jill had been married before meeting Joe and married her first husband, Bill Stevenson, when she was only 18 years old.

She was divorced when she turned 24, so she wanted to make sure her Joe was the one.

Joe’s first wife, Neilia, and the couple’s daughter, Neilia, were killed in a car accident three years before they met Jill.

Their children, Beau and Hunter, survived the accident.

Jill wanted to make sure that her marriage to Joe would last so that the children would not lose a second mother figure.

In her 2019 memoir, Where the Light Enters, Jill explains that she was also worried about losing her career and her own identity.

She wrote: “I knew that no matter how hard I tried, there would be so many things that I couldn’t control.

“If I have Joe with all my heart, he has the power to break it.

“I was just starting my career and planning for graduate school, and then I had staff calling to schedule appointments with my boyfriend around his crazy Senate schedule.

“They were pulling me in many directions.”

But when it comes to the fifth proposal, things were different.

Joe went to Jill’s apartment on the way to the airport in 1977 and said, “Look, I’ve been as patient as I know how to be, but this has lifted my Irish. Either you decide to marry me or that’s it, I’m out. I’m not going back. ask “.

He added, “I’m too in love with you to be just friends.”

Then he left, flying to South Africa for political duties, finally getting the ‘yes’ he wanted later that night.

They were married in the United Nations chapel in 1977 and took Joe’s children, Beau and Hunter, on their honeymoon.

In his autobiography, Joe said, “She brought me back to life. It made me start to think that my family could be whole again.”

They welcomed a daughter, Ashley, in 1981.

But when Joe was named vice president in the Barack Obama administration and Jill assumed the role of second lady, he refused to give up his career.

She continued her work as an English teacher at Northern Virginia Community College, saying “Being a teacher is not what I do, it is what I am.”

He has four degrees: a bachelor’s, two master’s degrees, and a doctorate in education.

However, she took a break from her impressive career in April of last year to support her husband in the campaign.

But he said he intends to teach English again if Joe wins the White House.

Jill’s clothing has been a big talking point during the campaign, and her love of bright colors and vibrant outfits has made her a hit with fashionistas.

A key example is his Stuart Weitzman knee-high boots, which have the word “VOTE” written on the side.
