A tragic young Dublin man stabbed to death near a flat complex in the late hours of Wednesday night was locally named Glen Osborne.
The expectant 20-year-old father of Taaffes Place was fatally killed after a dispute broke out at Ballybough House around 10 p.m. last night.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident, which is now being treated as a murder case by Gardai, Dublin Live reports.
Tributes have been pouring in for Glen, who had just discovered he was expecting a baby in a couple of months.
Close family and friends, who knew him best as ‘Ossie’, were devastated after the traumatic news, remembering the young Dubliner who was “stripped of a life”.
A person close to Glen said, “Glen, who am I going to hand over, finish up and torment? I can’t believe it. Rest in peace because. Look at your mother, you were all I had and your baby when he arrived. he wanted so much and we did too. RIP. “
Another added: “I literally have no words. I’m surprised they stole a life from you. Take care of your mom and baby. Please give her the strength to get through this because you were her everything and more. I can’t believe it. I’m even writing this, My baby, I’m heartbroken. I appreciate every memory we have together, good and bad. I love you always. “
A third said, “Well, what can I say? Ossie hugged and laughed with you on Friday night to discover this sad news. Today there is not a single absolutely shocked dry eye. It is not the word, it is hard to believe.
“Where do I start? From growing up together, going to school together, everyone laughing and joking, you brightened someone’s day by always smiling.”
While another close friend added, “What a cruel world. I can’t believe the horrible news I heard, I’m in shock. I don’t even know what to say. All the memories I have with you Glen I will cherish forever.
“You always made me laugh until my stomach hurt, even though sometimes we couldn’t get close to each other without fighting, I will never forget those blue eyes and cheeky laughter.”
Officers rushed to the scene after the alarm went off and discovered tragic Glen on the ground with stab wounds.
Paramedics treated him on the spot and took him to the Mater Hospital where he died shortly thereafter.
It is understood that a group of young people was in the area when a dispute broke out that caused the death blow.
The arrested teenager is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act of 1984 at Mountjoy Garda Station.
The scene is currently preserved for technical and forensic examination.
The State Pathologist has been notified and an autopsy will be performed in due course.
An incident room has been installed at the Mountjoy Garda station.
