A schoolgirl died after an accident on a farm in Donegal.
The 11-year-old girl sadly lost her life after an incident involving a tractor in the Malin area of the county shortly after 5pm.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was transferred to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
A local councilor told The Irish Mirror: “This is an absolute tragedy in what is usually a peaceful area.
“My thoughts are with his family at the troubled time.”
The Health and Safety Authority has been informed of the situation and will investigate it.
A Garda spokeswoman said: “Gardaí in Carndonagh is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a girl after an agricultural accident in the Malin, Inishowen, Co. Donegal area.
“The incident occurred at approximately 5.20 p.m. this afternoon, May 13, 2020.
“The girl was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was transferred to the Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Co. Derry.
“The scene is currently preserved for a full technical examination and the local coroner has been notified.
“The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and investigations are continuing.”
