iPhone 12 event date? Apple posts and deletes September event test on YouTube

Apple may have just accidentally shared when the iPhone 12 event will be when a test appeared on YouTube and was quickly removed.

Several 9to5Mac readers noticed this morning that a test feed appeared on Apple’s YouTube channel for an upcoming livestream.

The date mentioned for the video that goes live is September 10 (first image in tweet below that date shows in European format). While it is possible that the slip-up could have been revealed when Apple will have its iPhone 12 event, September 10 was also the iPhone 11 event date of last year. Maybe the date for today’s YouTube test remained the same as last year?

As remarked by my colleague Benjamin Mayo, this year September 10th would fall on a Thursday (unusual for Apple events) plus the availability of iPhone 12 will be pushed back “a few weeks”, as confirmed by Apple. Those two points make an early September of the 10th seem dubious.

However, if Apple had other hardware ready to go like an Apple Silicon MacBook along with at least some iPhone 12 models available for late September or early October, then a September 10 event could be a possibility.
