Have you noticed that since the installation of iOS 13.5.1 you need to charge your iPhone battery more frequently? You may have even noticed that the iPhone feels warm, or even hot, even when you are doing nothing.
Yes, it seems that this version suffers from another battery discharge problem.
iOS 13.5.1 was released on June 1 and seemed to contain little more than a fix for the Unc0ver jailbreak. This seemed odd as there was a lot of negative feedback from iOS 13.5 users about a lot of bugs, ranging from an irritating battery drain bug, MP4 playback broke, and some people’s devices they are caught in endless restart loops.
After working with multiple Hardware 2.0 readers, the problem seems to be due to applications running in the background.
Must read: I wish I had found this iPhone accessory years ago
Does this problem affect you? To verify, go to Configurations > Battery and then watch the Screen Off activity. If this is more than an hour, it is probably a problem. About an hour and that may be having a rather adverse effect on battery life.
You can also touch Show activity near Activity by application. This will show you if any application is consuming battery while it is in the background. A small amount of activity is normal, but many tens of minutes or hours are not good.
Another symptom of the problem is that your iPhone will feel warm, or possibly even hot, when it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.
Is there anything you can do about it?
Unless you throw away your iPhone and switch to Android, delete the apps in question or disable the app update in the background (Configurations > general > Background app update And disabling the function for certain applications, or disabling it globally, there doesn’t seem to be anything the end user can do.
The good news is that Apple is working on iOS 13.6, which is currently in beta (beta 3 was released the other day). I have spoken to several people running this beta on a variety of devices and the response I get is that it is a general improvement on the current version.
We can only wait.
