Instagram redesigns its home screen for the first time this year, with the addition of reels and shop tubs

For the first time in years, Instagram is undergoing a major design change to its home screen. Today, the company announced that it is adding reels and shop tabs to its home screen, in line with the company’s priorities. The reels tab will, of course, lead to videos in shortform similar to ticket ok. The ShopTab will bring to the surface a selection of editors curated with personalized recommendations, @ Shop Channel, Shopable Videos and a new product collection. Both tubs make it easy for people to find what they want on the platform and get there instantly.

Select the Tab tab as well as the Create tab where the direct messages where people upload photos are going to the right hand corner next to the inbox.

Adam Moseri, head of Instagram, wrote in a blog post, “We don’t take these changes lightly – we haven’t updated Instagram’s home screen in a long time.” “But how people create and enjoy culture has changed, and the biggest risk on Instagram is not that we change too quickly, but that we don’t change and become inconsistent. We are excited about the new design and believe that it gives much needed refresh to the application, staying true to the original value of simplicity. “

U.S. And just a few months after its launch abroad, Instagram’s commitment to the real tab suggests that the constitution is here to stay. Interestingly, IGTV, Instagram’s home for longform videos, has yet to receive a dedicated home screen tab and is only available through the Discover page, which may speak to a lack of interest in the format.

The shopping edition is less surprising than the rails. Instagram has evolved its shopping product over the years, and this summer, it launched a dedicated shopping page and the ability to use Facebook Pen for transactions. Having both reels and shops on the home screen means we can expect to see the company’s investment in both of these areas.
