Increasing Alabama’s recruiting ranks gives Tide a shot at No. 1

We always knew Alabama would be here in this position.

Following Sunday’s engagement of the nation’s No. 2 Offensive Guard Terrence FergusonCrimson Tide climbed four more places to No. 2 on the 247Sports Composite Team Recruitment Rankings for the class of 2021.

In May Alabama sat at number 47.

But again, this cannot be considered a surprise. Alabama is a program that has finished in the top two spots in our recruitment ranking in 11 of the past 12 years, bringing home the crown 10 times.

Yes Nick Saban and the company is going to finish again in the 247Sports Recruitment Ranking, they have one more hurdle in front of them in the state of Ohio. The Buckeyes have been running at the top of the rankings for virtually the entire cycle. Twelve of his 19 engagements rank in the Top 100, and all but three have a four-star rating or better. The previous Sunday, the Buckeyes landed as an elite cornerback. Jordan Hancock, giving them a little more cushioning at the top.

It looks like Alabama will respond with another five stars this coming weekend at Damon Payne, the No. 1 defensive tackle who will announce his college decision on July 26 on CBSSports HQ. If Payne chooses the Tide as 247Sports Crystal Ball predicts as well, he will be the fourth five-star to join the fold, tying Ohio State in that department with the most in the nation.

Using the 247Sports class calculator, Payne in the Alabama class gives Tide a score of 270.49, at 305.37 in the state of Ohio.

How does the history of the film look in the future?

Let’s start with the Crimson Tide. Can they complete an epic offensive line tour with five stars? Amarius Mims or Tristan Leigh along with offensive guard Top247 Jager burton? Alabama is still involved with the Texas quarterback pledge Jalen Milroe and corridors No. 2 and No. 3 of the country Camar Wheaton and Donovan Edwards. This excellent receiver class that already includes three Top247 guys could end with Brian Thomas Jr. or Malcolm Johnson Jr. 247Sports Crystal Ball Favors The Crimson Tide For Three-Star Tight End Robbie Ouzts.

Turning over Saban’s efforts in defense, the Crimson Tide could very well land cornerbacks No. 2 and No. 3 in five-star Ga’Quincy McKinstry and Jason Marshall. Top247 security Terrion Arnold He has Alabama near the top of his list, as does his close friend, coveted linebacker. Xavian Sorey. Flip prospect No. 31 in the country into defensive lineman Tunmise Adeleye The Buckeyes would help the cause, as well as beat the State of Ohio over the nation’s No. 2 prospect, defensive end JT Tuimoloau. Saban and his team will continue to play with guys like No. 1 prospect. Korey Foreman, No. 2 defensive tackle Maason smith and four-star finish Shemar Turner of.

As you can read, many of the best in the country have a keen eye on Alabama.

If you add Marshall, McKinstry and Ouzts to the fold and all of a sudden Alabama is at 300.88. This has all the possibilities to be more interesting as we go.

However, the Buckeyes can get to the finish line if they get all the prospects they lead to in the Crystal Ball: Tuimoloau and the top-ranked receiver, Emeka Egbukaand Hancock. Those two would push the Buckeyes total to 318.79 when using the Class Calculator. That would be nice to finish No. 1 in each of the last two cycles. And Ohio State is also mixing it up for the likes of Leigh, Burton and defensive tackle Top247. Tywone Malone.

Smart money is still in the state of Ohio at this point in the process, but there was a time when you would have predicted several in the Alabama class elsewhere: Tommy Brockermeyer and James Brockermeyer to texas JC Latham to the state of Ohio, Dallas turner to Georgia Kendrick Blackshire Oklahoma and Ferguson Georgia too. So just as we knew Crimson Tide would be in this position, we can predict that they will bounce back to get a few more surprises when all is said and done.
