Hilary Swank reaches new heights in her final role.
The Oscar-winning actress, 46, took to Instagram on Monday to share the first full-length official trailer for Netflix’s “Away,” starring as astronaut Emma Green, who embarks on a dangerous, years-long mission to outer space begins.
The trailer opens with Swank’s Green offering her daughter “a gift”, a bracelet with three large charms.

“That’s the Earth, the moon, Mars,” she says as she points to the charms. “And the string is that I’m making my return trip to you. So just think, the further I get, the closer I get to being back with you.”
As the two-and-a-half-minute clip continues, it is revealed that Swank’s character is on his way to a three-year mission to Mars, a lifelong dream of hers.
Things at home seem to go wrong when Swank’s husband collapses in his kitchen and is hospitalized, and can be seen wearing hidden on his head.

“They need me more than anyone and I’m not there,” Swank’s Green says.
“You think you’re the only one who was pursued by the sacrifice you made to ride here,” says one of the crew members as the trailer cuts to another crew member and tearfully asks a friend about video chat.

The situation in space also does not seem to go so smoothly, as a fierce explosion rolls the ship on which the crew is.
“We have done nothing nearly as dangerous as what we do,” warns a crew member.

The clip contains photos of the astronauts floating in space while their family members await their return to Earth.
“I’ll be back home,” Swank suggests. “You are my reason. My reason to hold on tight.”

The actress told Deadline recently that the role was more “physically challenging than I had expected,” explaining that the show was about “deep” and “low” people going to space.

In the entire ‘Away’, Swank’s Emma Green and her international space crew must fight to leave their families behind on Earth.

The story is about ambitions and human connections, Swank said.
“My character was dealing with this dream that really came from this mission to Mars, dream came from being a mother, which was unexpected and these deep relationships grew with these other people she was on this mission and this break stereotypes. “
The show is executive produced by Jessica Goldberg, Edward Zwick, Adam Kassan, Jason Katmis, Matt Reeves and Swank. Goldberg also made the series, while Katmis is also recognized among the show’s writers.
