Imminent questions about how Florida tracks COVID-19 related deaths

The number of COVID-19-related deaths in Florida has been recently questioned, leaving many wondering how accurate the reporting process is.

The Florida Department of Health currently reports 4,805 Coronavirus-related deaths, however, a man who died in a motorcycle accident was included in the death count, according to Fox 35 News.

Dr. Raul Pino, Orange County Health Officer, was questioned about two Coronavirus victims, who were in their 20s, and if they had any underlying medical conditions.

“The first one had none. He died in a motorcycle accident,” said Pino.

Despite being killed in a motorcycle accident, one man was counted as a victim of COVID-19 because he tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Pino was also asked if information about the victim of the motorcycle had been removed.

“I don’t think so. I have to double check,” said Pino. “We were arguing, arguing, or trying to argue with the state. Not by the numbers, it is 100 … it makes no difference if it is 99, but the fact that the individual did not die from COVID-19 … he died in the accident. “

“But you could actually argue that it could have been COVID-19 that caused it to crash. I don’t know the conclusion of that,” he added.

The fact is, a victim was added to the Orange County Coronavirus death list, drawing attention to how the state is following up.

The Florida Department of Health told FOX 35 News that a COVID-19 death is identified if “COVID19 appears as the immediate or underlying cause of death, or as one of the important conditions contributing to the death. Or, if there is an infection confirmed by COVID-19 from a laboratory test, and the cause of death does not meet the exclusion criteria, such as trauma, suicide, homicide, overdose, car accident, etc. “

Dr. Pino notes that the distributed data comes from the state and is the best in terms of availability.

“The only thing I can tell people is that the data I provide is the data we consume from the state. We offer you the best data we have,” Dr. Pino concluded.
