IKEA redesigned its 2021 catalog with ‘Photos’ from Animal Crossing

The IKEA catalog is almost iconic in the photo community. But if you were poor when they started replacing photos with realistic CGI, then you really would not like this … IKEA Taiwan has reused important pages in its 2021 catalog with in-game ‘photos’ of the last Animal Crossing video game.

First detected by The edge, the fun little marketing stunt (seems to have worked…) was posted on the IKEA Taiwan Facebook Page, where the company shared images with the original page from the catalog along with a recreation done in Animal Crossing.

The video game versions are not always a perfect match, as you may not find every piece of IKEA furniture and interior design Animal Crossing video game, but they came surprisingly close and made something fun at the same time:

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that IKEA has used its catalog to do something creative. In May of last year, the company redesigned rooms The Simpsons, Friends, en Stranger Things use furniture that you could actually buy. They also had at least one awkward Photoshop controversy … but that was probably not planned.
