The ‘Law & Order: SVU’ star said he knew “eight people who really passed away” during his appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Law and order: SVU The star and rapper Ice-T spoke about his family’s experience with the new coronavirus, revealing his own calls and losses due to the virus, and why his family recovered and moved to Arizona in the midst of the pandemic.
While appearing in Tonight’s show starring Jimmy FallonThe actor, husband and father were honest about their fears of contracting the virus and why they are not ashamed to tell people that they are afraid of it. the SVU Star shared that people on social media had questioned its toughness, but said he speaks publicly about the risks of the virus because there are still “non-believers.”
“I have survived a lot in my life,” he told Fallon. “I don’t want to die from this, and especially with a new daughter. So yes, I am aware, and I am worried, and I am cautious. If you want to call that scared, call it scared.”
Ice-T became even more personal when it revealed how the pandemic “has taken its toll” on him and his family. The television star told Fallon to several people that he knew they had already lost their lives. There are more than 4.5 million confirmed cases in the U.S., with more than 150,000 deaths as a result of coronavirus complications, to date.
“It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, I can’t catch him,’ but once you meet people, I mean, Jimmy, I know eight people who really passed away,” he said. “So, I mean, I don’t need much more evidence than that to know that I don’t want to play around with it, you know?”
Ice-T’s wife’s father, Coco, was also hospitalized, which Ice-T has posted on his social media. During his conversation with Fallon, he called his father-in-law “a type of guy who rode Harley Davidson and didn’t mask himself,” and said he spent nine days at home with COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, before I finally went to the hospital. With confirmed double pneumonia, Ice-T’s father-in-law spent three days in the ICU and another month in the hospital, the rapper said.
“They call you, and they make calls from closest relatives. That’s when it’s scary, because, like, we might have to put it on the fan,” Ice-T told Fallon. “He is home now, but his lungs are damaged indefinitely.”
The rapper and actor is currently in Arizona, but was in New York City at the SVU It is set when the first jump occurs in US coronavirus cases, stopping productions across the city. Ice-T said the seriousness of the pandemic, which he understood through daily case reports, is what convinced him and his family to go to his Arizona residence, which they keep close to Coco’s family and his California friends. But instead of calming their fears, the relocation only amplified them when cases began to escalate there.
“We stayed in New York for two and a half years, about two months, and the numbers just went up: 800 people a day, you know, 900 people a day. And I said, ‘You know what? We’re going to try going to Arizona. ‘”, said. “When we got to Arizona, no one was wearing masks. They were walking and I come from New York, so I’m careful to say, ‘Hey, this isn’t right.'”
