M Klein, 81, created the first “eligible groups” for the vaccine, which is rolled out to people over the age of 80, healthcare workers and care home residents, NHS England said in a press release.
NHS England added that the vaccination program is now in its second week, “the biggest success since the outbreak began, potentially saving thousands of lives.”
Earlier this month, the United Kingdom became the first Western nation to authorize the Covid-19 vaccine after regulators approved an emergency for the Pfizer / Bioentech vaccine.
Speaking after receiving the jab, McCleann said in a press release: “I am honored to have received the Covid-19 vaccine and I would urge anyone who is vaccinated to take the fur – it took a while. And then it happened.
“I really hope that, as more people are vaccinated, we will move on to a normal way of life, especially the artists who have endured so much this year.
“We have all taken part in the fight against coronavirus and doing our job and getting vaccinated will save lives.”
The vaccine comes in two doses, with a minimum of 21 days apart. “It works by teaching the immune system how to defend itself against an attack,” NHS England said.
