Mike Tyson was drunk and high when he met the cast of “The Hangover”, and then filmed the movie the next day.
The 54-year-old heavyweight legend, who said he looked like a “pig” during filming time, didn’t even know he was ready to appear in the comedy classic.
But after bumping into Zach Galifianakis and his fellow co-stars on a night out, Tyson was briefed on his Hollywood and on-set cameo a day later.
She said to motivational guru Tony Robbins: “I met the guys in a club, they were in the VIP section and I said, ‘This is where I usually sit, usually nobody is here.'”
“So I went in there, I’m going through these guys to see what they’re doing in my section. It was Zach, the other guy, and he said, ‘We’re going to be in a movie with you,’ and I said, ‘Yeah? When?’ And he said, ‘Tomorrow,’ ”Tyson recalled.
“And I didn’t know he was drinking and smoking back then, using drugs, so I didn’t know he was involved in the movie. So eventually I had to go and do the movie and it was a success. “
Tyson played in the 2009 box office hit as Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper stole one of the boxer’s famous tigers.
Iron Mike continues to knock out Alan, played by Galifianakis, before he returns his tiger cat.
But in a 2012 interview with Yahoo Sports, the reformed “Baddest Man on The Planet” revealed how he used cocaine during filming.
“It was a mess. I was overweight. I was a pig, high on cocaine, “said Tyson.
The youngest heavyweight of all time would make another appearance in “The Hangover Part 2” and struck up a friendship with Cooper, who starred in “A Star Is Born.”
Tyson revealed, “Bradley is a very good guy. A really amazing guy, he’s also doing very well. “
Since then, the American ring icon has launched his own Broadway show about his iconic and turbulent career while changing his life.
Tyson is even training again as he hopes to fight for the first time in 15 years, waiting for a return for charity.
But his famous punch to the funny man Galifianakis is what the legendary puncher credits for helping to regain his popularity among fans.
“One day I’m in a restaurant and the movie isn’t out yet, but the kids must have seen the preview of me hitting Zach,” said Tyson. “So one of those tour buses passed by and all the kids got off the bus and grabbed me, taking pictures and my friend said, ‘I think we have something here, Mike,’ and I said, ‘Yeah, me too. ‘”
He added: “It has been different, it has changed since then. When I go out and meet younger children in their 20s or 15s, it’s because they saw ‘The Hangover’, they had no idea that he used to be a boxer. ”
