I know, living life according to the phases of the moon seems eccentric and maybe even confusing. But after following the full lunar cycle and adjusting my daily life accordingly, I came to see its value. It is not necessary to take an interest in the spiritual realm, although you can be its judge. If you are interested, read on to find out what you need to know about this practice and my experience of trying it out.
I’m always interested in things that help people organize better. Anything that claims to help heal, improve mental well-being, or help with expression, I want to try. What I try will not always resonate with me, but I am curious to see the popularity of people turning to things like tarot, crystals and meditation, which makes me feel like I can’t be alone. In search of meaning outside the norm.
Despite my interest in such practices, I have never looked at the moon except to notice how beautiful it looks in the sky. At a time when nothing seems certain – but most heavily, desperately – the lunar gies made for a welcome change are open to increasing rage.
To get started, I spoke to Kirsty Gallagher, an expert on the lunar cycle – she has written a best-selling book on it (Lunar Country: Working with the magic of the lunar cycle) And runs a member-member club called Lunar Living. I saw her speaking live at an event a year ago and her conviction on the power of the moon was amazing. But, usually, I went home and forgot all about it.
Recently, her content started popping up more in my Instagram feed (a sign, maybe?) And my interest was fired again – so I reached out to her. On a personal level, things haven’t materialized, though it has moved on (which I imagine most of our years later experiences), so I decided to follow Gallagher’s advice in an effort to be “unstuck” and invite new ones.

Step 1: Familiarize yourself with the 8 phases of the moon
Before we dived, Gallagher informed me that each lunar phase lasts about three to four days, as the length of the lunar cycle per month is not fixed.
The lunar cycle begins with a weak crescent moon, although Gelagher has chosen to call it a dark moon. The moon in the sky is so small, you can hardly see it. “This is the most emotional and lowest energy release point of the lunar cycle. We want to be focused, calm and reflective inward,” said Gallagher, “at this stage we become aware of what we don’t like.” About our lives, which is important for the next stage.
Then comes the new moon, where the sun, earth and moon are together. This is the best time to set intentions (probably around issues arising during the black moon). Instead of being the time to act productively, it’s almost To think Productively. Gallagher recommended writing these ideas.
Next is the waxing crescent moon, which is the time when a small crescent can be seen in the sky. This is the beginning of the “doing” phase. “The way the moon starts to show itself in the sky, we need to start doing the same,” Gallagher assured. It’s time to act on those goals: send an email, make a call, ask for the help you need, apply for a job, go to an event.
This is followed by waxing followed by the moon of the first quarter, which sees the moon become exactly half full. Gallagher said this is usually the “favorite phase” of its customers, because that’s when things start to come together and become powerful. She advised you to follow your intuition, say yes to any appealing opportunities and “show up in life.” Be careful, because this is a key moment for those who doubt that the desires will go away as they can feel the desires from afar, but Gallagher said to push the fear forward.
The next phase is the waxing gibbous moon. Here, it is difficult to say whether the moon is full full. Gelagher said this stage is typical for experiencing difficulty in the mentioned ng. “You get a huge income from this energy raja to help you go after your dreams,” he said, so if you’re struggling to get a shut eye, focus on what’s on your mind.
All of this builds up to a full moon, which when the sun, moon and earth are aligned once again, but is now on the opposite side. “It’s time to get done, so the first thing we have to do is celebrate,” Gallagher instructed. She warned that people could be “quick to become emotional” because the energy cycle in the lunar cycle has reached its peak – so the trap of people going “crazy” during a full moon is nowhere to be found. At this point, whatever issues you are facing will be brought to the surface. “Normally, any anger and frustration people experience during a full moon, if they become really honest, they are drawn to themselves,” Gallagher said, “you will probably look back and see where you have delayed and self-destruct.
Near the end, you find the invisible gibbous moon, which is the time to reflect on the lunar month as it passes. The moon begins to lose fullness here. Finally, the last quarter is the time of lunar eclipse. Gallagher explained that you should not use this as an opportunity to give up anything that no longer serves you. It’s a formula that, when always carried around by wellness influencers, has significance.

Step 2: Work with the zodiac sign of each cycle. . . Or not
It’s worth noting that the moon changes what zodiac sign it changes in each zodiac day, but Gallagher doesn’t like to sink too much into this detail. Because of this, she said, there are many ways to live life according to the moon – depending on how complex you want to be.
“If you want, you can control it a lot and live every few days by changing the moon, but most people don’t have time for that.” As an expert herself, she only pays attention to this part of the lunar journey when she feels brutal and seeks additional clarification about what is happening in the sky.
Where it is ideal to work with the zodiac in relation to the moon is on the issue of the new and full moon. The new moon will always be the same zodiac sign as the Sun, so right now we are in the Scorpio season, while the full moon will always be in the opposite sign. Gelagher said these signs add “flavor” to the overall energy cycle of the lunar cycle each month.
Step 3: Be open to change
When I am open-minded, I know there will be many skeptics. “I like skeptics very much. They are some of my favorite people, because it’s better to be that way and get proof in the puddle, so to speak,” Gallagher said. For him, allowing himself to be powered by the moon has yielded tangible results.
“We now live in a life where we have very regular and no rituals. We expect everything to be the same throughout the day, and we have lost the cyclical nature of life.” Gallagher explained. About our lives in this way, “We have lost the ability to investigate with ourselves.” This is where the phases of the moon can help – they inject the cyclical nature of everyday return.
Step 4: Hold yourself accountable
As we approach the end of this strange year, it will soon be time to make New Year’s resolutions. Again, that time has come around – although how many of us are really sticking to them? Gelagher said we often let them slide, forget them, then ask the question where the year has gone. According to him, “It is so easy to never get enough attention and direction towards any dream because we do not hold ourselves accountable.” Instead of experiencing the phases of the moon as a spiritual activity, it can work to mark you over time.
“If you don’t want to believe that the moon can bring magic – whatever it does – every new moon or full moon check gives you a way to take conscious control of your life by saying, ‘I wanted this, why should I?’ Didn’t pay attention to it? Why am I avoiding it? ‘
As far as the gallery is concerned, a monthly check-in can lead to a magical change. “If you don’t want to believe that the moon can bring magic – whatever it does – every new moon or full moon check gives you a way to take conscious control of your life by saying, ‘I wanted this, why should I?’ Didn’t pay attention to it? Why am I avoiding it? ” Regularly asking himself, Gallagher thinks that this can help him observe the direction we are heading in the right direction. We often choose to make an impact when a definite choice is made or a definite choice is made. He said – “It’s a beautiful way to move yourself forward,” and he said consciously.
My experience according to the lunar cycle
Speaking to Gallagher for advice, he said people who are unable to relax struggle with quiet gies at the beginning of the lunar cycle. They have to learn to “be” and not always “do”. On a personal level, this is echoing with me being the guy who hates anything more than a quiet weekend. I reluctantly relaxed my social schedule and turned back to the extra commitments around work, I found myself gradually becoming more comfortable with that introspection and calm with the holiday. I was also drawn to change my yogasana, in favor of lightweight routines.
The various lunar gies in my lifestyle made it easy to chart the steps I am taking to accomplish my intentions determined on the new moon. The phases became like small milestones or checkpoints, encouraging me to move on. In general, I mean how fast time moves when every full moon is replaced by asons tuo.
Galagher told me that “when you become aware of the moon, it helps you deal with things very differently – not just in yourself but with everyone around you.” With this in mind, I am both more aware of how things stay in constant flow and also accept reality. His shock factor was still in the unexpectedly changing things, but I was able to recover quickly. No longer is it bound to prove helpful to get into this mindset, even if only left. On a practical level, I used the virgin new moon energy to decollete my living space, because one of my goals was to give up material things that did not serve a purpose – a task I had been neglecting for months. . If using lunar phases is exciting, but it seems too complicated, first focus on setting intentions on the new moon and freeing up around the full moon.
Did I achieve my goals and achieve all that I set out to do? No. Did I make careful choices that served my purpose? Yes. Regardless of your thoughts on the rise of spirituality, keeping in mind the lunar phases can serve as a means to live life and better navigate the flow of life.
