MIAMI, Florida – NOAA’s National Hurricane Center issued a public opinion at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, August 23, 2020, due to the presence of Hurricane Marco (formerly Invest 97L and Tropical Depression 14) following to Louisiana.
Hurricane Marco projected path
Hurricane Marco is located about 180 miles southeast of the Mississippi River estuary and is moving north-northwest at 20 km / h.
NHC officials say Marco is expected to move generally from northwest to northwest tonight and approach the Louisiana coast Monday afternoon.
Marco is then forecast to turn west and move near or across the coast by Tuesday.

There has been a big shift in computer models on Monday morning.
The majority of the spaghetti models now keep Marco moving offshore from the northern Gulf Coast in the coming days instead of moving across the country across Louisiana on Monday afternoon.
Hurricane Marco Category Strength
Marco is a Category 1 Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale with maximum sustained winds of 75 km / h (120 km / h), with higher winds.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (30 km) from the center of the tropical cyclone and tropical storm winds blow outward up to 165 miles (165 km) from the center.
Slight fluctuations in power are possible tonight.
Gradual weakening is expected to begin on Monday, and Marco could become a remnant by Tuesday evening.
