Hundreds of unknown diseases in India are sick, killing at least one


At least one person has died and more than 200 have been hospitalized in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh due to a mysterious illness, according to reports.

An unknown disease was found late Saturday night in Eluru, the ancient city famous for hand-woven products, where patients experienced symptoms ranging from nausea and discomfort to loss of consciousness, according to doctors.

A 45-year-old man admitted to hospital with similar symptoms of epilepsy died on Sunday evening, Press Trust of India news agency reported.

According to the BBC, officials are investigating the cause of the bill, which has entered Iluru, according to the BBC.

Andhra Pradesh has been one of the worst affected states with over 800,000 cases, the third highest in the country.

State Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas said all the patients with myocardial infarction tested negative for COVD-19.

He added that no evidence of viral infection came out of the patients’ blood samples.

“People fell ill after the officials visited the area. We denied water or air pollution for any reason,” he said. “It’s some mysterious disease and only laboratory analysis will reveal what it is.”

An official at Iluru Government Hospital told The Indian Express: “People who fell ill, especially children, suddenly started vomiting after complaining of eye burns.

The official added, “Some of them fainted or had a concussion.”

Seventy people have been released, while another 157 are still being treated, officials said.

State Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy said medical experts were being sent to Eluru to investigate the cause of the illness, the BBC reported.
