NEW YORK – Clint Frazier was not in Tuesday’s starting lineup, but that could change on Wednesday.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he plans to use the 25-year-old slugger frequently who the team is just calling.
“I expect him to play,” Boone said before Tuesday’s game against the Braves at Yankee Stadium. “He will play an important role for us.”

Frazier shot to be on the bench with Mike Ford at DH and Brett Gardner in left field against Atlanta.
“Obviously off the bench (Tuesday), could take care of a great place,” Boone said. ‘Just feel again, it was very difficult to send him out a week or 10 days ago. But based on his past performance, his talent and what we believe in, but also how he performed in the spring and summer. ”
Boone said Frazier reported to the team’s alternative site at PNC Field in Moosic, Pa., The day after the Yankees sent him down and “came right out” to work out. Frazier will take over for field player Giancarlo Stanton, who came on the injured list on Sunday with a left hamstring strain. The team expects Stanton’s injury to last about a month.
“I could see him DH-ing,” Boone Frazier said. ‘I could see him playing in the field. I could see him absolutely everywhere. ‘
Boone said he had spoken to Frazier earlier in the day.
“Obviously excited to be here and ready to go,” the manager said.
Frazier, a former top prospect, has not been given a regular chance to prove himself in the major. In 123 major league games, he hit .254 with 16 homers and a .771 OPS in 246 record appearances.
“Everyone knows Clint and what he can do with a bat and by hand,” Ford said. ‘I love playing next to him. He is an electric player who has pop, speed, hit ability, and of course great hands on the plate. I think he brings a lot. ”
