This is her quick training tip, an opportunity to learn to work smarter in just a few moments so you can get started on your training.
No one intends to waste time when they go to the gym, but chances are you will leave many precious seconds, or even minutes, to dry during your workouts. Even if the pandemic prevents you from biting your gym’s dumbbell shelf, you’re likely to get too much rest between sets and exercises while browsing Instagram, checking your email, texting, catching up on the news, swiping to left or right, and generally pay full attention to your phone if you have a habit of picking it up in the middle of your home.
Here’s why that’s a problem: Excessive rest during training reduces the amount of metabolic stress in the muscles, undermining a key growth stimulus.
EMOM training can help solve that. EMOM stands for “every minute in the minute,” and is a protocol that requires you to perform a specific number of repetitions of an exercise during each minute of your workout, and then rest the rest of the minute until the clock is reset. The faster you complete your repetitions, the more rest you will have. And don’t worry if that doesn’t seem like a big challenge to you: As your training time lengthens, every effort you make will make each minute feel much shorter than the last.
You can tailor your EMOM workouts to focus on endurance and cardio or strength and muscle development by adjusting the number of repetitions you do (more on that in a moment), but no matter how you do it, it will boost your metabolic oven and incinerate more fat from head to toe than you would during a more traditional weight lifting session. Plus, because it’s on the clock, you won’t be able to waste time, allowing you to get more work done in less.
His movement: If you are interested in trying EMOM training, incorporate the protocol into your program once or twice a week.
To focus on resistance and cardio, keep your rep number high (over 12) to minimize your rest. To develop strength, keep your rep count low (five to eight) to maximize it. Do not know where to start? Do this EMOM exercise with rope, band and ball to burn fat and build muscle from head to toe in just 30 minutes.
