How to use Microsoft’s new app to remotely manage your children’s screen time

First, you must download the app to your device and ask your family members to do so as well. The restriction of applications on Android, PC and Xbox is probably the most outstanding feature. You can also set up content search filters, but if your kids use Chrome or any other browser, they can easily search for things they don’t want me to see.

Now, to set up app restrictions, you’ll need to add your kids from the home screen. Once they join the family group, ask them to go to settings and turn on Activity report. The app will also ask you to enable the Accessibility and Use Limit settings on your children’s phone. This is the only way you can configure application timers.

Here’s how to do it:

• Tap your child’s name on their Family Saftey app
• Touch the screen time report to view the list of applications installed on your device
• Tap a particular app to set a time limit or block the app.
• Once you touch the Time limit button, you define the number of hours and days of the week to allow the use of the application. You can also configure the time frame of the day in which they can use the application.

If your children open any of the blocked apps, the app will close immediately and they will receive a notification asking them to get their permission to use the app.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind. App blocking and third-party app restrictions are not allowed on iOS. Therefore, this application is mainly useful if your family uses Android and Windows based devices.

Also, if you want to configure content and search filters, you will have to block other browsers like Chrome and Firefox.
