How to play Fortnite on a Chromebook

There is no denying that Fortnite is one of the biggest titles in gaming today, and these days many of the same people who want to play Fortnite already have a Chromebook, perhaps through school. Here’s the best way to play Fortnite on your Chromebook.

It’s been a few months roughly possible to play Fortnite on certain Chromebooks and Chrome OS tablets thanks to the official Android app. Although Fortnite was never officially offered to Chromebooks through the Play Store, you could download the game to your Chromebook and play games with touch control.

Thanks to Nvidia’s new web-based client GeForce Now, it’s now much easier to play Fortnite on a Chromebook. In fact, unlike Fortnite’s Android app, GeForce Now lets you play games with a keyboard and mouse as a controller – whatever you want.

Importantly, GeForce Now will also work on Chromebooks that do not support the Play Store. In addition, the graphics of Fortnite will always go up to high, even if you’re on a low end Chromebook like the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet. The tradeoff, however, is that GeForce Now requires that you have a fairly decent internet connection to stream the game.

Here’s how to sign in to a GeForce Now account and start playing Fortnite on your Chromebook.

  1. Sign up for a GeForce Now account

Before you can start playing, you must sign up for an account. Here you have to decide what kind of GeForce Now account you want.

The most interesting part about GeForce Now, especially compared to other game streaming services, is that it can actually be free – that is, if you are willing to be patient. At busy times of the day, when too many people are trying to play, people on the free tier have to wait their turn on a server. Another problem with the free tier is that you can only play for a maximum of one hour, which is more than enough for a few rounds of Fortnite.

If you are willing to pay $ 5 a month or $ 25 for six months, you can go to the front of the line ship while waiting for a new copy of GeForce Now to open, allowing you to enter quickly on your next round of Fortnite on your Chromebook. In addition, paid members can play for up to six hours without having to start a new cloud session.

  2. Add Fortnite to your GeForce Now library

Now that you have an account, you’re almost ready to play. Open the GeForce Now web player, use the top bar to search for Fortnite, then click “+ Library. “Fortnite will now appear in the”My librarySeries from GeForce Now.

  3. Start a session

Now click on Fortnite in the My Library row, and then click on the Play button. You will be taken to a waiting screen, where you will wait for another GeForce rig to become available.

Once you’ve waited your turn, you can jump into full screen to use the remote computer to sign in to Epic Games, and then launch Fortnite just as you would on a PC.

  4. Start playing!

That’s true! Enjoy playing Fortnite on your Chromebook. Just make sure to keep an eye on the clock, as you only have one hour to play on the free tier before you have to wait in line again, and GeForce Now will not wait until your match ends before you leave your session.
