You are us I hope you already protect your phone with a PIN, a fingerprint, or a face (or all three), but sometimes you will want to add an additional barrier to particular applications; If you lend your phone to a friend, say: o If your children or partner always borrow your phone for any reason.
How you want to apply this extra protection is up to you. Some applications come with it built-in; in other cases, you must have the help of a third-party application. The process is also different depending on whether you are using Android or iOS, so we have divided our guide into two sections.
App lock on iOS
Apple doesn’t give third-party apps as much freedom of action on iOS as Google does on Android, so you won’t find any commonly used blocking tools on the App Store. Instead, trust individual applications, many applications that may contain confidential information will give you additional options.
Apple’s own notes app for iPhone is an example. You can lock individual notes by touching the Share button (inside a note) or long press a note (in the note list) and then choose Blocking note. Notes are locked with Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN code, and you can configure it via Notes in the iOS settings app.
WhatsApp also has protections to keep the prying eyes of your messages. From the main screen, you must touch Settings, Account, Privacyand Screen lock—You can then configure Touch ID or Face ID to protect access to your conversations. If any of those methods fail, it will revert to the password on your phone’s lock screen.
Another third-party application with this same security measure is Dropbox, which is useful if you don’t want your child to accidentally erase all your files with a poorly judged finger. Tap Bill, then the tooth icon (top left), then Activate access code. When you have set an access code, you will also be given the option to use Touch ID or Face ID as well.
We can’t walk you through every app on iOS, but take a look inside your favorite apps to see if an additional layer of security has been included. Evernote, Amazon, and PayPal are three other apps that can be locked with Touch ID or Face ID, and many banking apps now have the same function as well, so even if someone has access to your phone (with or without your permission), I cannot access all your applications.
