Fortnite
Fortnite is having another “serious” meeting at the Party Royale tonight at 7 PM ET, a presentation by We The People, which will be a discussion between actors, athletes, musicians, and more about the voter suppression crisis that disproportionately affects black communities in the United States. Heavy stuff!
Well Fortnite has linked at least one free in-game item to the event. By logging in from now until tomorrow night, you’ll have access to the winner of the TikTok emoticon challenge, “Verve,” a dance by Michael Mejeh who won the contest earlier. Here it is:
Originally, this was announced that if you attended the We The People event at Party Royale, you would get the emote, but that was a bit strange considering Fortnite has disabled emotes for the duration of that event (so people can’t understand it. ) ways of being disrespectful and / or racist in some way while emoting, I suppose). So all you have to do is log in to Fortnite between now and tomorrow at 8pm ET to get the emote. I just got it right now as we speak, so it’s available long before the show. But again, you can’t use it on the show itself.
If the big voter suppression conversations aren’t your thing (though I recommend everyone watch the show), there’s a more normal Party Royale experience later this week. Diplo is doing his last Fortnite show of the summer on July 31 at 2 PM ET. The show “Higher Ground” has the motto “prepare to ascend”, so I guess we may be doing some floating anti-gravity.
Fortnite continues to experiment with a very wide range of offerings within Party Royale. We’ve had a few concerts, a trailer premiere, movie screenings, and these serious racial conversations like We the People, which has now had two different segments, including tonight’s.
Anyway, if all you care about is the emote, now you know how to get it. It’s unclear when this emote will be available again, and when you return it may not be free so you essentially only have these two days to claim it before it goes away for an unknown period of time. In fact, I really like it, and it looks like it’s going to be a good dance move to use at Party Royale concerts in the future. I’m always looking for those.
