Now that diving has been introduced to Animal Crossing: New HorizonsPlayers can equip wet suits to swim in the ocean.
To get a wet suit, you will have to buy one from Nook’s Cranny for 3,000 bells. You will find it in the display case, next to the tools. There are multiple designs for wet suits, so check each day if you don’t like your current options.
Once you get your wet suit, equip it. It will go directly onto your clothes. Then you can head to the ocean and press A to dive. Once you are in the water, you can swim freely by pressing A more.
You can find sea creatures in the ocean looking for bubbling shadows. Once you see one, dive in by pressing Y, and your character will grab the creature. Like fish, different sea creatures will appear depending on the time and season. If you find a Scallop, Pascal the Red Otter will appear, offering to trade you the Scallop for a DIY mermaid recipe.
To get out of the water, swim to the sand on the beach. Your character will immediately exit. You can then remove the gear from your wet suit to return to your normal appearance.
