Although Google One is Google’s cloud storage service, 100GB of free Dropbox storage is now available as a bonus for US Chromebook owners. This strikes me as a bit odd, but of course more Storage is always good if you trust the service provider. Having been a Dropbox user for a long time, I am comfortable with it, so of course I decided to take advantage of it.
You can always visit Google’s Chromebook benefits page, but there is a way to get the 100GB update directly from the Explore app on your Chrome OS device. Just open your Launcher and look for “Explore” or “benefits” and the Explore application should appear.
Open it and scroll to the new Dropbox offer:
Click on the “get benefits” link and you’ll see the terms – This offer is valid for one year of storage for US Chromebook owners Before July 23, 2021. You don’t have to be a recent Chromebook buyer To get this deal, that has been the case in the past for storage advantages.
To get the deal, you will need to log in with Dropbox and once you do, you will need to be directed to a promo code page with the code preloaded. Once I submit the code, that’s fine!
Another tip that may come in handy, at least until the Chrome web apps are deprecated: The file system for the Dropbox app, found in the Chrome Web Store, will integrate Dropbox into the Chrome OS file app.
You can always access Dropbox files via the web on your Chromebook, but if you want native integration, it may be worth it.
