How to enable Android dark mode for Google Docs, Spreadsheets and Presentations

I have become a firm believer in using dark mode on my phone. Not because of its purported battery-saving benefits (though not negligible), but because I have the unfortunate habit of reading in low light (or almost no light) conditions, and the dark mode is much gentler on my eyes.

While both iOS and Android have introduced system-wide dark modes for phones, Google is now implementing the feature in its Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps on Android phones so you can configure each app to display in dark or light mode. individually.

This is how you configure it for Documents, Spreadsheets or Presentations on an Android phone:

• Open your app and tap the “hamburger” lines in the upper left corner.
• Select “Settings”.
• At the top of the page, you will see the link for the topic. Tap “Choose theme” and select “Dark”, “Light” or “System default”.

If you are using dark mode and need to temporarily view your document in light mode (for example, so you can better see how it will look printed or for another reader), you can do so from within the document:

• Select the three points in the upper right corner.
• Tap “View in light theme”. If you want to go back to the dark theme, just follow the same instructions.

Please note that if you choose to configure your application for the light theme or the default system, the option to change it within the document is not available; You can only do it for the dark theme.
