Download from developer beta version iOS 14 to iOS 13 with a Mac
If you want to immediately downgrade from the developer beta version iOS 14, you will need to restore your iPhone or iPad. With this option, you usually won’t be able to restore from a backup made on iOS 14 when you return to iOS 13. But of course you can restore from a previous backup of iOS 13.
Step 1: Be sure to run the latest version of macOS (> About this Mac> Software update).
Step 2: Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC with a Lightning or USB-C cable.
Step 3: Use the correct method from the list below to get your device enter recovery mode (You will see a computer logo and a Lightning cable when it succeeds.)
- For iPad Pro with Face ID: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the button to decrease the volume. Press and hold the Top button until your device starts to reboot. Continue pressing the top button until your device enters recovery mode.
- For iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the button to decrease the volume. Then hold down the side button until you see the recovery mode screen.
- For iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus or iPod touch (7th generation): Press and hold the Sleep / Wake and Volume Down buttons at the same time. Do not release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Keep pressing both buttons until you see the recovery mode screen.
- For iPhone 6s and earlier versions, iPad with home button or iPod touch (6th generation or earlier versions): Press and hold the Sleep / Wake and Start buttons at the same time. Do not release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Keep pressing both buttons until you see the recovery mode screen.
Step 4: When the Restore / Update option appears on your Mac or PC, choose Restore (This will erase your device and install the latest non-beta version of iOS.)
Step 5: After the software restoration is complete, you can restore a backup from iOS 13 with your Mac or iCloud (or configure your iPhone or iPad as a new device).
