If you have been using Zoom for the last few months to work from home, it is possible that the name where you are identified in the bottom left is not what you would like to see. Maybe it’s your email instead of your name, or it’s all in lower case, or it’s the middle name you’ve always hated. However, it’s easy to change your zoom name – and add a profile photo, if you like.
If you are using the desktop Zoom app, you are doing this.
- While in a Zoom conference, click on the button labeled “Participants” at the bottom of the app screen. A list of participants will open to the right.
- Hold the hover over your name and click “More.”
- Click “Rename” and place your preferred name in the pop-up windows. Click “Rename” and you are done.
- You can use the same “More” button to add a profile photo, which will appear when you turn off your camera. (If there is no profile picture, only your name will appear.) Just click “Add Profile Picture” and select a picture in your file browser.
It’s even easier on a mobile device. These instructions work for both Android and iOS; only the location of the pop-up windows are any different.
- Open your Zoom app and tap on the ‘Settings’ button in the bottom right corner.
- Tap on your name.
- To change your name, select “Display Name” and change your name in the popup box.
- Select “Profile Photo” to edit your photo and then take a new photo or choose one from your gallery.
And that’s it!
