There are plenty of iconic bromances in Hollywood, but the friendship between Kanye West and Elon Musk was one we didn’t see coming. Although the rapper and CEO of Tesla don’t show their friendship often, there have been times when they’ve proven to be the best siblings, even recently when they posed together for a quick snapshot inside Musk’s house.
After the photo was shared online, West and Musk’s friendship sparked public interest, and many wanted to know how long these two tycoons have been friends.

While it’s unclear exactly when and how West and Musk initially crossed paths, it appears their bromance dates back a few years.
The first time many of us heard the rapper and CEO names of SpaceX / Tesla in the same sentence was in 2015 when Musk praised West’s music and the continued impact on the pop cultural sphere.
Writing the West propaganda for Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” magazine, Musk wrote: “The guy doesn’t believe in false modesty, and shouldn’t …[H]We fight for their place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose …[h]He wants everyone else to do the same: participate, question, push the limits. Now that he’s a pop culture giant, he has the platform to do just that. He is not afraid of being judged or ridiculed in the process. “
Three years later, Musk said West was his “biggest inspiration” when answering questions at the South By Southwest (SXSW) conference in March 2018.
The following month, rapper “Selah” publicly thanked the tech entrepreneur for giving him a Tesla, which he called the “funniest car he’s ever driven,” in a series of tweets.
“I really love my Tesla. I’m in the future. Thank you Elon, ”wrote West.
Later that year, West defended Musk in front of a classroom full of art students at Detroit College of Creative Studies, where he called on people to leave the famous engineer alone.
“I don’t care who is in your house. Leave that man alone, ”he said as he stood at the top of a desk, apparently referring to claims by singer Azealia Banks that she was at Musk’s house while he was” looking for investors “before the SEC will accuse you of fraud.

Although West and Musk have been doing their own thing lately, they recently showed that their friendship is still getting stronger.
On July 1, the rapper shared a photo of himself posing alongside Musk inside the Tesla CEO’s home.
In addition to the snapshot, West noted in the caption that he and Musk both wore orange: He wore a bright orange jacket and Elon wore a black T-shirt with an orange motif.

Fans liked the photo so much that some even started searching the archives to see if there were more photos of the iconic duo together.
It didn’t take long for someone to find a photo of the couple, which they shared alongside the most recent photo of West and Musk on Twitter.
The post soon caught the eye of the tech entrepreneur and responded to the tweet with “hell of a decade.”
