The opening keynote for Gamescom, the largest gaming convention on earth, takes place today, August 27th. But instead of passionate fans and media personally wandering through the event, it all happens online because of the coronavirus pandemic. If you would like to agree, we have provided all the information you need below. The gaming news will continue until the event ends on Sunday, August 30th.
There’s always a lot of great news coming out of Gamescom, so it’s worth paying attention if you want to hear about the latest games coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and the Xbox Series X, such as the PS4 and Xbox One. A small sample of what to expect includes Star Wars: Squadron, Fall Guys, but of course there will be many more. Here’s all you need to know to follow along with the Gamescom event, wherever you are.
How do I watch Gamescom?
Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards channel on YouTube kicks off the open day, August 27, at 2pm ET / 11am PT / 8pm CEST with a pre-show starting half an hour earlier. It will lead to the main event that he says will be filled with debuts from video games around the world. The event will be streamed on YouTube and you can watch the video here (embedded above).
In addition, it will stream on Twitch, Twitter and Facebook.
IGN will cover the rest of video coverage for day one of Gamescom, enable the opening night after show starting at 4PM ET / 1PM PT / 10PM CEST, and then continue with developments of the show until 7PM ET. You can check out the YouTube link here.
IGN will spread coverage for days two, three, and the last fourth day of the event on YouTube, each starting at 12PM ET / 9AM PT / 6PM CEST. It’s already created links for those videos, so you can click them now to bookmark them or to set a reminder for each one when they’re about to start.
What time does each Gamescom showcase start?
Gamescom created a handy route that shows when all coverage begins each day. The image also includes times when coverage will begin in Germany, where the convention is normally held. Note that this schedule is based on ET timing.
