Homestead police-involved shooting captured on surveillance video


Homestead, Fla. – An investigation into the shooting involving an officer at Homestead is underway, officials confirmed.

Miami-Dade County Police say City officials from the Homestead Police Department responded to a burglary at a building on NE 5th Avenue around 10 p.m. Sunday night.

A suspect fled the scene, which was chased, during which the suspect pushed the officer’s vehicle, fired shots and struck the issue, police say.

Authorities say the suspect was taken to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition by Miami-Dead Fire Rescue.

It happened near East Mowry Drive and US1.

According to a witness, the suspect at one point pushed people inside one of his vehicles and harassed people at the 5th Avenue home.

This is when someone called the police, and when they arrived, the suspect took off.

The police official said the officer was not injured during the incident.

The names of the suspects and the officer have not been released, and an investigation is ongoing.
