Hideo Kojima is working on a new horror game, and he wants the prolific horror mangaka Junji Ito to help him. That’s according to Ito himself, who briefly spoke on the subject in an interview during Comic-Con 2020.
“I know director Kojima and we’ve been talking about what he might have a horror-based game he might be doing, so he invited me to work on it, but there are no details yet,” Ito said, speaking through a translator. (via ComicBook).
Sadly, nothing more was revealed about Kojima’s new horror game, but luckily the rumor mill has been producing a lot of material to speculate on. But first let’s start with the facts. Ito is actually the artist Kojima originally wanted as a concept artist for PT, but the project was scrapped before he drew a sketch. I will leave that juicy bite to your imagination.
There was talk of a Silent Hills revival in March, when reports surfaced that Sony was seeking to mediate in a meeting between Hideo Kojima and Konami to bring Silent Hills back. A few weeks later, we reported on a cryptic taunt by another prominent horror mangaka, Suehiro Maruo, who suggested he was working on something related to Silent Hills.
Unfortunately, Konami rejected the rumors in an email to one of the sources, but said that “they are not closing the door on the franchise.”
Until we know what Konami is cooking, here are the best horror games play alone in the dark (if you dare).
