Here’s your first look at the new face of the BMW M4

Soon you will see the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 Coupe in full. Before you fully see them, you can now semi-view at least one of them. BMW has released some photos of the M4 Coupe and M4 GT3 racer, giving us a chance to see the new face of the 4. And see how ridiculous the GT3 racer looks there.

Clearly these are prototype images. And whatever conclusions you find about the said face, know this first: behind the new grille will sit a ‘high-revving’ 3.0-liter right-hand six-turbo engine, or develop 473bhp or 503bhp in competitive form. I’m good.

You also get the option of a proper six-speed manual transmission (yay for self-shifting!) As an eight-speed M automatic transmission, and the boss of BMW M said that the M4 (and its M3 sister) was developed in parallel with the M4 GT3 racing car. Very good.

That … it will be pointy, and fast, and likely to hold lurid drifts. The latter is in principle an M Car Commandment. Both this and the M3 salon will be unveiled next month, at which point you can see them in full.
