The upcoming Netflix series, Away, just got a massive marketing boost from the moving trailer. And some fans may recognize the music used in the campaign. Here is the scoop on the tunes from the preview, plus a few details about the plot, the cast, and the premiere date of the new sci-fi show.
What is ‘Away’ about?
“The only thing I knew for sure in my life was that I wanted to go to Mars on the first mission,” says Emma Green, in the Away trailer.
“Commander Emma Green leaves her husband and daughter behind to lead an international crew of astronauts on a dangerous three-year mission to Mars,” the synopsis read on Netflix.com. Away fits neatly into the sci-fi drama category, with a twist of romance.

Oscar Award winner Hilary Swank leads the cast in the role of Emma, the astronaut who sacrifices three years of her life to make her dream come true. Josh Charles plays Emma’s husband, Matt, the partner left behind to keep the fort. The family unit rounded off on screen is Talitha Bateman as the teenage daughter of Lex, Emma and Matt. Ato Essandoh, Adam Irigoyen, Mark Ivanir, Ray Panthaki, Vivian Wu, and Monique Gabriela Curnen also die.
What music drives the ‘Away’ trailer?

De Away trailer music sets the tone for some emotional highs and lows in the background of outer space. The Foresight opens with the classical composition, Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy. Most movie buffs will recognize the familiar song that has been used in several large-screen productions, including Ocean’s Eleven en The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The choice for song is especially sensible within the promotional space for Away, a performance on space travel, as Clair de Lune translates to “light of the moon” in French.
After the bittersweet opening, the second cut of music kicks in at about the 25-second mark of the trailer. ‘I never like to worry about you,’ says the singer in Manchester Orchestra’s The Maze. Music aficionados may have heard the band in rotation at local indie rock stations. As a song about love, trust and connection, this Manchester Orchestra track comes home in the context of Away ‘s story.
“I’ll be right back,” Emma promised her loved ones in advance.
‘Add to me your wisdom and breathe your truth to me. I’m awesome, ”the singer continues, while the commander blows in appearance, and Matt soon experiences a health situation. But Emma is not the only astronaut who leaves a household behind. The trailer hints that an emotional toll must be paid by all astronauts and those on Earth awaiting their return.
