Here’s how coronavirus cases add up by zip code in Orange County beginning June 26 – Orange County Register


The Orange County Health Care Agency updated its monitoring website on Friday, June 26; New features that now include data by zip code.

The county report noted 17 other deaths, bringing the total to 323. Of the 323 deaths, 170 were listed as people in skilled nursing facilities and three as homeless people.

There were 479 new confirmed coronavirus cases as of Friday, but authorities said that number was catching up with delays from 28 different test dates. The cumulative total of cases is now 11,960 since testing began in March.

The seven-day average for the reported daily cases was 283, dating from June 19.

The county also began publishing an estimate of the number of recoveries from the virus, which was 6,763 as of Friday. Recoveries are based on the cumulative case count of the previous 28 days.

According to the California Department of Health, there have been 104 deaths in Orange County in the past 14 days.

The state agency reports 546 patients hospitalized in the past 14 days (suspicious and positive) at 33 hospitals across the county as of June 25. The state’s coronavirus control panel also shows that Orange County has at least 38% of its ICU beds still available.

The total countywide cumulative evidence reported Thursday was 231,902, with data as of June 23. The county’s total testing reported on Friday was 207,720.

The California Department of Health reported that the positive test rate for Orange County has been 5.8% in the past 14 days, out of 67,524 tests. The report also noted that Orange County has had 3,917 new cases in the past 14 days. In the same time period, Los Angeles County has had 22,717 new cases and Riverside County has had 5,210 new cases.

County data shows that 17% of all cases are age 65 and older, the same age group accounting for 75% of deaths.

The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:

  • 85 and older: 31% (101)
  • 75-84: 27% (87)
  • 65-74: 17% (55)
  • 55-64: 12% (39)
  • 45-54: 9% (30)
  • 35-44: 2% (8)
  • 25-34: 1% (3)
  • 24 and under: 0%

The data released daily is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
