Here is the schedule for the first round of Capitals-Islanders


After defeating the Boston Bruins 2-1 Sunday, the Washington Capitals earned the number three seed and will play the six-seeded New York Islanders in the first round of the playoffs.

Game One of the series is Wednesday at 3 p.m. The first five games of the series will be broadcast on NBC Sports Washington.

The National Hockey League today announced the 2020 plan for the Stanley Cup Playoffs First Round and sent out information between the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders, which begins Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m., at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Games 1, 2, 3, 4, and if necessary, 5 will be televised on NBC Sports Washington and streamed live on the MyTeams app and NBCSportsWashington.com. Broadcast information for games 6 and 7, if required, will be announced at a later date.

NBC Sports Washington will cover all seven potential first-round games with at least two hours of live Capitals news, analysis and commentary. Caps Pregame Live and Caps Postgame Live will continue with extended one-hour formats, which are also available to stream live on the MyTeams app and NBCSportsWashington.com.

All Capitals playoff games will be broadcast on 106.7 The Fan (if not in conflict with Washington Basals baseball) and on 94.7 FM The Drive, and on the 24-hour radio channel, Caps Radio 24/7, specifically dedicated to the Capitals. In addition to broadcasting all games, Caps Radio will continue to provide live news and access to the capitals 24/7, including live game audio, exclusive Capitals playoff-related hockey content throughout the day. The Metropolitan Division champion Capitals will face the New York Islanders in the playoffs for the eighth time, and the first since Washington defeated the New York Islanders in seven games in 2015. The Capitals finished the 2019-20 season with a record of 41 – 20-8 record, the Metropolitan Division claimed for the fifth consecutive season. The Capitals became the eighth franchise in NHL history to win five consecutive division titles and the first since the Anaheim Ducks from 2012-13 to 2016-17. With 90 points in 69 games ahead of the short-cut season 2019-20, the Capitals were once again on pace to reach the 100-point mark.
