Penn Power says more than 25,000 customers in the area are without power. A large part of the region was on Thursday at one point thunderstorm under a heavy thunderstorm warning, but all warnings and watches have expired.
A viewer submitted a photo of a tree falling on a house in Butler County. Storms also brought trees, poles and wires into other parts of the Pittsburgh area.
Power crews are now trying to repair utility poles and down wires to restore power, including in Carnegie, which was hit hard by power outages.

Hurricane Laura has meanwhile weakened to a tropical storm, but there are still life-threatening floods and damaging winds inland across western and central Louisiana. Unsustainable storm surge is still raging along the coast.
Here in Western Pennsylvania, we could see about an inch of rainfall from Laura, which would be a low pressure system late Friday through Saturday.
