San Francisco-based power provider PG&E Corp. said Friday it was starting to turn around power outage in the direction of California‘s roaster operator, affecting about 200,000 to 250,000 customers simultaneously, saw the voltage on the power grid in the state-wide high wave.
The company said in a statement that it does not mention a shut-off of public safety, which is carried out during specific circumstances with high threat to fire.
PG&E said the outages, directed by the California Independent System Administrator, are expected to reach up to 250,000 customers simultaneously in hourly rotations.
PG&E will not be able to inform customers in advance about the shut-offs that could occur anywhere in the company’s service area, the statement said.
Last year, PG & E’s power shut-offs hit hundreds of thousands of homes and workplaces in northern California and were condemned by customers, as well as authorities, for being too widespread, with insufficient communication.
The company recently came out of bankruptcy, marking an end to a long-running restructuring process that began after its equipment set off some of the deadliest wildfires in California.
