Health departments confirm the new death of COVID-19, cases


(WSIL) – Health departments in southern Illinois are giving COVID-19 updates.

the Perry County Department of Health announces the death of a male resident due to complications from the disease.

The man was in his 50s and marks the first COVID-19 related death for the county.

The Perry County Health Department is also confirming an additional case of Coronavirus. The individual is a woman in her 50s.

As of June 28, there have been 49 confirmed cases in Perry County. Those include four active cases, 44 released from isolation and one death.

Currently, Perry County has had 1,170 negative test results.

Meanwhile, the Franklin-Williamson County Health Department It also reports new cases for Williamson County.

These include:

  • Women: one in her 50s
  • Men: one in his 20s, one in his 30s, three in his 50s, one in his 80s and one in his 90s.

To date, there have been a total of 112 laboratory confirmed positives in Williamson County and 13 in Franklin County.

Those include four deaths in Williamson County related to COVID-19.

Of these positive cases, 75 have been recovered in Williamson County and 12
have been recovered in Franklin County.
