‘He promised me to fight this’

Jan Blasowicz still wants a shot at John Jones.

The Polish fighter won the empty light heavyweight title on Saturday when he stopped Dominic Rez at the UFC 253 co-host event in Abu Dhabi. The Battalion Jones (26-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC) won the Bleachers (27-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) vacated in August to move into the helvet division.

Yet, despite announcing progress in the weight classes, Blechows still has his eye on the man who is considered the greatest of all time.

“Right now we can talk about it because I didn’t want to talk about it before the fight because my opponent was Dominic (Reyes),” Blechoviz said at the post-fight press conference. “I don’t have an opponent anymore, so why not John Jones? No one knows what he’s doing right now, so we’ll see. But yes, why not? After I beat Corey Anderson he promised to give me this in London Albuquerque (NM). ”

Considering Jones’ plans for the helmet, Blechoviz is unlikely to meet Jones anytime soon. And if it’s not Jones, the Bleachers are down to avenge their recent defeat.

“Maybe Thiago Santos if he (Glover) wins the fight against Taxira – he’ll be really good,” Blechoviz said.

The 37-year-old former KSW champion has won four of his nine fights and is leading 8-1.

“It’s been a long journey for me, but ultimately I’m on top,” Blechoviz said. “It’s a beautiful feeling. I have no words for how to describe how I feel right now. My mind is in a different place right now, somewhere in space, I don’t know. ”
