HC Shanahan, 49, says RB Rahim mustert (ankle) will go to IR

San Francisco could start without running back for its near future.

49-year-old coach Kyle Shanah announced on Monday that the team’s running back Raheem Mostratt for a win against the Rams in Week 6 has sprained his ankle and is likely to lead to an injured reserve.

Mustart was injured in the first half of the game and came out after halftime with an ankle injury. After carrying a one-yard to start in the second half, Mostart got out of the game and did not return. He finished the night with two catches of 17 carry and 11 yards in 65 yards.

Injuries gave Monsert the Niners lead back in his first season. Week 6 was the 28-year-old’s second game since the MCL’s sprain that he missed from weeks 3 and 4. He was injured in the first half of the team’s Week 2 victory over the Jets.

Mustart’s growing injury history is something that Shanahan and Co. Can cause anxiety to move forward. Her 2017 and 2018 campaigns ended with IR’s trips.

In 2019, Mostart played in all 16 games before injuring his calf in the NFC Divisional Round. That memorable performance in the 49ers’ NFC Championship game win against the Packers came as a shock.

After Mustart re-emerges, San Francisco will look to Jericho McKinnon, Rookie Jemicel Hasty and possibly Jeff Wilson to fill the void. McKinnon and Hasty carry a combined 15 for 55 yards in Sunday’s win.
