HBO Max to remove ‘Chapels Show’ at Dave Chappell’s request


HBO Max has removed “Chapels Show” starring Dave Chappell from its streaming list.

Casey Blues, Streimer’s chief content officer, made the announcement during Varieties’ Virtual FYCFest, stating that it will no longer be offered by the end of the year.

“We talked to Dave [Chappelle]. I will not go into it, but it is very clear that it is a very unique and special and emotional issue that he has got, ”said Exec. “So at the end of the year, at the end of this year, December 31, we will honor his request and take this show down.”

The move comes just weeks after Netflix pulled content at the comedian’s request.

In a lengthy social media video, the Emmy-winning star explained that she “never pays” after leaving the show.

“They (VycomCBS) didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract,” Chappell claimed. “But is that true? I knew these people were doing my job and they never had to ask me or they never had to come. Tell me. I signed the contract for purely legal reasons. But is it true?” ? I didn’t think so either. “

P The stand-up went on to praise Netflix, its current home for comedy specials.

“That’s why I choose to work for Netflix. I choose to work for Netflix because when all those bad things happened to me, that company didn’t even exist. And when I found out they were ‘Chapels Show,’ While streaming, I was furious, “Chappell said.” How did they know – how did they not know? So you know what I did? I called them and I told them I felt bad. And you want to know what they do? They agreed to take it off their platform so I could feel better. “

“Chapel’s Show” aired on Kymedi Central, owned by ViacomCBS from 2003 to 2006.

Chappell famously left the series in 2005 after intense tensions with the network and creative differences. Only three episodes were completed for its final season in 2006.
