For the final months of lockdown, Paramore leader Hayley Williams has been regularly sharing covers of songs she has been in. She has provided takes over Phoebe Bridgers, Tegan And Sara, SZA, Björk, and more. At least Williams says she’s done with her so-called “self-serenades” cover series, but she ended the series with a big one: “Fake Plastic Trees” from Radiohead.
‘A while, anyway. the most requested song in my short career in self-serenadism was an @radiohead song, ”she wrote in an Instagram title accompanying the track. “A first instance was sacred, until I realized that the band themselves have never once considered what they do as precious as never to toys.” She went on:
they are never seen after one version of their utterance and public affections do not seem to sway them. so many times people thought they were at best only for themselves to flourish more beautifully into something unexpected and undeniably better. for a while I dared when I was on Radiohead (iiii knowwww), but good good things you always find and welcome back. so, in admiration of one of the best bands of all time – and in humility for anyone who * does not * ask for it – here’s a self-serenade of “Fake Plastic Trees”. enjoy it if you can.

Williams released her debut solo album, Flowers for armor, earlier this year. Watch the interview We Got a File On You with her.
