Hasan Minhaj: ‘Seinfeld is one of the best shows, probably of all time’ | Television and radio

The funniest standup I’ve ever seen …

Chris Rock Never Scared, Patrice O’Neal’s Elephant in the Room, and The Bird Revelation by Dave Chappelle.

The funniest thing shouldn’t be funny …

People falling. Any video of people falling is very, very, very funny. And the problem is, you’re watching a video of someone in pain, so you shouldn’t laugh. There are many videos on YouTube of people accidentally falling into manholes; those videos make me laugh a lot.

The funniest TV show I’ve ever seen …

I think pound for pound, Seinfeld is one of the best shows, probably of all time. And the British office.

The funniest heckle I’ve ever had …

Once I was performing in a university and I was bombing so hard. Twenty minutes into my set, I heard someone in the audience say, “You can stop now!” I looked at the crowd and thought he was a heckler, but he was the organizer of the show. I was doing so badly that she just wanted me to stop.

The funniest garment I’ve ever had …

Double-opening necklaces in the spring of 2004. It was a really bad look.

The funniest hairstyle I’ve ever had …

In my freshman year of college, I buzzed my hair and it looked really bad. It looked like a shaved chihuahua. I already have a very small head, so it looked really ridiculous.

The most fun food I’ve ever eaten …

At our anniversary dinner, my wife and I went to a super fancy restaurant where the chef recommended that we eat turbot. We politely agreed because we were over our heads. It is an elegant restaurant, you always say “Yes”, right? Incorrect. It was the most unpleasant thing we ate in our lives. The chef kept coming back to our table, nodding confidently: “Do you like it?” At one point I ran to the bathroom because I thought I was going to throw up. When I returned, the chef brought a SECOND turbot to our table. His time was impeccable. The joke always increases. Well done, chef. Well done.
